Training and Education

The MPCCC is committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders and experts in our field. Our Training and Education Program is designed to provide an enriching and comprehensive educational experience.

PhD Scholarship Award

Our program supports aspiring scholars by awarding PhD scholarships. PhD scholarship awardees are given the opportunity to work closely with our distinguished faculty and engage in cutting-edge research.

PhD Awardee: Trang Tran, Awarded the MPCCC precision medicine scholarship
Trang studied a Bachelor of Biotechnology in Vietnam, which included a graduation thesis. After working full time as a Research and Development (R&D) officer in Vietnam, she moved to Australia to undertake a Master of Biotechnology at the University of Melbourne, focusing on business and commercialisation in Biotechnology. During her Masters, she also undertook an internship at AgriBio at La Trobe University. After her Masters degree, she worked as a research assistant for two years before undertaking a PhD in the Hormone Cancer Therapeutics laboratory at the Hudson Institute, headed by A/Prof Simon Chu. Her interests lie in understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of ovarian granulosa cell tumours, and working at uncovering potential targets for more precision-based treatment strategies for this disease.

Talks and Seminars

To encourage knowledge sharing and intellectual growth, we organise seminars featuring leading scientists and thought leaders in the industry. These seminars cover a wide range of topics and are open to all members of our academic community. They serve as a platform for insightful discussions, networking, and exposure to the latest developments in our domain. Our 'Tech Talk' series presents informative sessions that delve into cutting-edge technologies propelling precision cancer advancements and our jointly run 'Monash Biomedical Discovery Institute (BDI) – MPCCC Precision Cancer Seminars' are a platform dedicated to sharing the latest strides in precision oncology research.

Fellows' Workshops

Our fellows' workshops are tailored to provide a collaborative and interactive learning environment. These workshops bring together a select group of Monash University Fellows, the MPCCC Molecular Oncology and Pathology Fellows, and faculty members, to engage in in-depth discussions, problem-solving, and skill development. They offer a unique opportunity for hands-on learning and the exchange of diverse perspectives and support. Through these components, our Training and Education Program strives to create an environment where knowledge thrives, innovation flourishes, and the future of our field is shaped by the brightest minds. We are committed to providing the cancer workforce with the tools and resources they need to excel in their academic and professional journeys.
